Merchant Guard — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

Merchant Guard ("the app", "we") scans your Shopify store against Google Merchant Center's published disapproval / "Misrepresentation" policies, scores your suspension risk, and suggests fixes. This policy explains what we access, store, and share.

What we access

With your permission, Merchant Guard reads (read-only):

We do not request read_orders or read_customers, and we do not access or store your customers' personal information. Merchant Guard uses no Protected Customer Data scopes.

What we store

What we send to third parties

By default, Merchant Guard runs entirely on our own servers and sends nothing to third parties. If the optional "misleading-claims" check is enabled, we send your public product text (titles and descriptions only) to OpenAI to classify potentially misleading marketing claims. No customer personal data is ever sent. We do not connect to or access your Google Merchant Center account; we only compare your store against Google's published policies.

Data retention & deletion

No guarantee

Merchant Guard is an early-warning and remediation tool. It does not access Google's systems and cannot see Google's private review decision or guarantee reinstatement of a suspended account. It helps you find and fix the issues Google most commonly flags.

Your rights

You can uninstall the app at any time to stop all data collection and trigger deletion. For any data request, contact us.
