Old Glory — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Old Glory (“the app”, “we”) helps Shopify merchants find and fix risky “Made in USA” / country-of-origin advertising claims under the FTC standard. This policy explains what we access, why, and how we handle it. Questions: support@wigleystudios.com.
What we access
With your granted scopes read_products and read_content we read:
- Product catalog text — titles, descriptions, tags, vendor, status, and each variant's declared country of origin (the customs
countryCodeOfOriginfield). - Online Store page content — your About/story/sourcing pages and store name, to detect store-wide origin claims.
We do not request or access orders, customers, or any personal / Protected Customer Data. Old Glory is a zero-PCD app by design.
What we store
- Scan results — your compliance score, the flags we found, and the suggested fixes — stored against your shop domain so we can show history and trends. This is your own store data, not customer data.
- Session / authentication tokens — to keep the app connected to your store.
How we process it
Catalog and page text is sent over an encrypted connection to our analysis engine (on our own infrastructure) to compute your risk score and fixes. An optional internal classifier (OpenAI) can be enabled to catch nuanced/implied claims; it is off by default (the scan is fully deterministic without it). When enabled, short product-text snippets may be sent to OpenAI solely to classify claim risk. We never send customer data (we hold none), and we do not sell, rent, or share your data for advertising.
Retention & deletion
We keep your scan history until you uninstall the app. We honour Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks: on a shop-redaction or deletion request we erase your stored sessions and scan records. You can also request deletion anytime at support@wigleystudios.com.
Important limitation
Old Glory flags risk against the FTC's published “all or virtually all” standard and suggests fixes. It does not certify that your products are compliant, does not verify your supply chain, and an FTC determination is fact-specific. The app is a tool to help you substantiate or qualify your claims — not legal advice.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
