Payout Guard — Privacy Policy

Payout Guard ("the app", "we") scores your Shopify store's account-health and suspension/payout-hold risk and suggests fixes. This policy explains what we access, store, and share. In short: we read product, policy, and aggregate payments data only — we never access your customers' personal information or your order details.

What we access

With your permission, Payout Guard reads (read-only):

• Store info (read_products) — store name and domain.
• Product data (read_products) — product titles, descriptions, types, and tags, to scan your catalog against Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy.
• Store policies (read_privacy_settings) — whether your refund, privacy, shipping, and terms policies are present.
• Aggregate Shopify Payments data (read_shopify_payments_disputes, read_shopify_payments_payouts) — counts and amounts of disputes, charges, and refunds, used to compute your chargeback and refund rates. These contain no customer personal information.

We do not request the orders or customers scopes, and we do not access or store your customers' names, emails, addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal information.

What we store

• Your shop's Shopify session/access token (to operate the app).
• Health-check results keyed to your shop — your account-health score, chargeback/refund rates, flagged products, and policy status over time (to show trends).

What we send to third parties

To classify risky product wording and generate remediation copy, Payout Guard may send your public product text (e.g., a product title and description) to OpenAI for analysis. We never send customer personal information or order data to any third party — we don't have it. OpenAI processes this data under its own terms and does not train on it via the API.

Data retention & deletion

• We retain your store's data only while the app is installed.
• On uninstall, Payout Guard honors Shopify's shop/redact webhook and deletes all data we hold for your shop (sessions and stored health checks), typically within 48 hours.
• We also honor the customers/data_request and customers/redact webhooks; because we store no customer personal data, these are acknowledged with nothing to return or erase.

Important limitation

Payout Guard is an early-warning and hygiene tool, not a guarantee. Shopify does not expose a "ban risk" or internal risk score via its API, so we infer risk from the signals we can read. A healthy score significantly reduces suspension/hold risk but cannot prevent every cause.

Your rights

You can uninstall the app at any time to stop all data collection and trigger deletion. For any data request, contact us.
